Activity Director – Responsible for development, implementation, and supervision of recreation services in a skilled nursing facility. Qualifications High school diploma; degree in hotel management or related field is a plus. Strong communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to communicate, maintain order, and enforce safety rules with small and large groups. Ability to work well with individuals who have physical or mental limitations. Knowledge and awareness of the care needs of the elderly and/or chronically ill. Basic computer skills. Responsibilities Assist in evaluating each resident within 7 days of admission according to background, interests, abilities, physical limitations, and needs, and develop a meaningful program. Develop and maintain records indicating resident attendance and participation, and complete all written records and chart documentation. Maintain a current list of residents who are not physically able to participate in activities. Maintain a system for visiting residents who are unable or unwilling to participate in group activities, to determine their recreational needs and effective ways to meet those needs. Assist in developing and posting a monthly activities calendar, ensuring activities are coordinated with other relevant services. Maintain quarterly progress notes, quarterly review, and annual review of progress toward resident activity plan goals. Assist in coordinating monthly resident council meetings to provide advocacy, education, and group participation. Monitor the budget on a monthly basis and work with the Administrator to address budget variances. Keep abreast of Federal, State, and local requirements and guidelines regarding recreation programming. Perform other duties as requested.
