Job Summary The Activities Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing engaging recreational and social activities for residents in assisted living, senior care, and long-term care settings. This role aims to enhance the quality of life for residents through meaningful interactions and experiences that promote physical, emotional, and social well-being. The Activities Director will collaborate with staff, families, and community resources to ensure a vibrant and supportive environment. Duties Develop and implement a comprehensive activities program tailored to the interests and needs of residents. Coordinate event planning for various recreational activities, including arts and crafts, games, outings, and special events. Manage schedules effectively to ensure a diverse range of activities are available throughout the week. FACilitate memory care programs that support cognitive engagement for residents with memory impairments. Collaborate with nursing staff and social workers to assess residents' needs and preferences regarding activities. Maintain accurate records of participation in activities and evaluate the effectiveness of programs regularly. Train and supervise volunteers or activity aides to assist with program delivery. Foster a welcoming atmosphere that encourages resident participation and social interaction. Qualifications Experience in assisted living, senior care, or home community care settings is preferred. Strong skills in schedule management and event planning are essential. Background in recreational therapy or social work is advantageous. Knowledge of memory care principles and practices is a plus. Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with residents, families, and staff members. Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment while also being self-motivated. Compassionate approach towards seniors with diverse needs in long-term care or nursing home environments.
