Powerwell is a leading recruitment firm helping our clients discover top talent. We are recruiting for a Bilingual (English & Spanish) Quality Control Manager. Candidates must be able to work onsite in Houston, TX and be bilingual and fluent in English and Spanish.

Job Description:

The Quality Control Manager is responsible for ensuring that the quality management system (QMS) is fully implemented in an organized and efficient manner. Work with corporations in maintaining and re-certification of ISO and RTP certification. The Quality Control Manager is responsible for delegating and assigning tasks to Quality Control Technicians and working closely with related engineering, construction, fabrication, and repair departments.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee project/product quality to ensure compliance with codes, standards, regulations, equipment-specific specifications, and QMS requirements.
  • Advancing quality achievement and performance improvement throughout the organization.
  • Managing the development and implementation of the QMS for planning, fabrication, inspection, documentation, and operations activities.
  • Planning duties within the Quality Control staff and related work schedules.
  • Identifying and developing Quality Control personnel, FRP laminators, Secondary bonders and thermoplastic welder certification requirements and continuing education/training needs.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and direction of all Quality Control personnel/techs.
  • Participate in meetings and product-related discussions.
  • Maintain NCR log.
  • Review fabrication drawings and work orders as needed.
  • Manage raw material traceability.
  • Maintain calibration log and records.
  • Writing work instructions and Quality procedures as needed.
  • Schedule and host third party inspection.
  • Maintain shop certifications.
  • Taking full responsibility for hold-point releases once all QMS functions have been completed and the equipment is ready to go into the next work stage.
  • Developing and implementing risk-based inspections with the enforcement of identifying process risks and establishing internal quality hold points as needed.
  • Managing plant integrity through a failure analysis reporting system and following up on recommendations.
  • Oversee the supervision of all visual inspections.
  • Managing inspection and testing plans for new construction, repair work, and alterations.
  • Identify and develop solutions to correct inspection function deficiencies.
  • Manage fabrication processes, plant equipment, inspection, and QMS internal audits.

Education, Experience, & Requirements:

  • BA/BS University degree with a concentration in operations, engineering, or five-plus years Quality Control experience (Non-Metallic).
  • ISO Internal Auditor certification and vast knowledge of the system and implementation.
  • Excellent reading and writing skills.
  • Must have the ability to work within strict deadlines and under pressure while maintaining a professional demeanor.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Certificates and/or Knowledge of the Following Are a Plus:

  • Knowledge about codes used in the FRP and plastics Industry (ASME-RTP-01, ASTM D3299, AWS, etc.) is a plus.
  • FRP experience preferred.
  • Knowledge about Raw materials used in the FRP industry.
  • Knowledge about test methods used in the FRP and plastics Industry.
  • Able to communicate in Spanish
