Position Overview

Swift Straw is seeking a skilled and dedicated Maintenance Technician II (Electrician) to join our dynamic team at our Jasper, FL manufacturing facility. In this mid-level position, you will play a crucial role in the installation, repair, and monitoring of industrial processing and production machinery. Your expertise in electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems will ensure the seamless operation of our facilities and contribute to the overall efficiency and reliability of our operations.

As Maintenance Technician II (Electrician), you will be a key player on our maintenance team, responsible for executing a range of maintenance tasks, from troubleshooting electrical malfunctions to conducting preventative maintenance on machinery. You will report directly to the Building Engineer and will be held accountable for key performance metrics, such as minimizing downtime and maximizing operational efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of high-voltage electrical distribution systems and their components, ensuring safe and effective operation.
  • Apply expertise in the National Electric Code (NEC) to ensure that all electrical work is compliant with commercial and industrial standards.
  • Install, modify, and repair all types of electrical conduits, power, and lighting systems, including both single-phase and three-phase electrical distribution systems and their branch circuits.
  • Utilize trade hand tools, various trade meters, and both electric and hydraulic power tools efficiently and safely to execute electrical tasks.
  • Translate NEC guidelines into practical applications on job sites to enhance safety and compliance.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of buildings, equipment, and systems to identify potential issues before they escalate into larger problems.
  • Diagnose and repair faulty equipment units and damaged structures to maintain operational integrity and efficiency.
  • Develop and implement effective preventative maintenance procedures to enhance the longevity and reliability of all equipment.
  • Perform periodic quality checks on equipment and systems to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Maintain comprehensive and detailed maintenance records for all equipment to ensure accountability, traceability, and informed decision-making.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role, showcasing proven expertise in electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Experience in managing a shift within a manufacturing facility is preferred.
  • Strong organizational abilities with a demonstrated capacity to effectively manage complex systems.
  • Fundamental mechanical knowledge combined with hands-on experience in a production environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interactions with team members, company leadership, contractors, and laborers.
  • A strong team player with a collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • A valid driver’s license with eligibility for the company’s commercial auto insurance policy.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening.
  • Demonstrated ability in proactive problem-solving with a self-motivated approach, embodying a commitment to achieving results regardless of challenges
