Reports to: Director of Elementary and Middle School Supervises: None Scope of Work: We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Spanish Teacher to join our teaching team. This part-time position involves working with children across multiple age groups, from toddlers through middle school, and supporting their language acquisition in ways that align with Montessori philosophy and practice. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about teaching Spanish, embraces a child-centered approach, and can adapt lessons to meet the developmental stages of learners from early childhood through adolescence. Experience Requirements: Native or near-native fluency in Spanish. Experience teaching Spanish to children, ideally across multiple age levels. Familiarity with or openness to Montessori philosophy and practices. Strong classroom management and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a teaching team. Education/Certification Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree– coursework in Education, Spanish, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred. Clear CORI and MA fingerprinting General Responsibilities: Design and prepare an inviting and challenging environment using a full array of content specific materials, texts, and online applications. Specific Responsibilities: Develop and implement a comprehensive Spanish language curriculum for children ages 15 months to 14 years. Use Montessori-aligned methods and materials to foster language acquisition through exploration, play, stories, songs, movement, and conversation. Create engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons and activities that build listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in Spanish. Support cultural appreciation by introducing students to Spanish-speaking countries, traditions, and perspectives. Observe, document, and assess students’ progress, providing individualized support as needed. Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers about student growth and engagement. Participate fully in the life of the school, including staff meetings, professional development, and community events. Follow recommendations for students with an IEP, 504, neuropsych evaluation, or who receive support through a specialist. Support students with individual behavioral plans. Train and supervise children regarding emergency practices such as fire drills. Constituent Relations: Build productive relationships with parents through parent education events and parent meetings if concerns arise. Build positive relations with community organizations to support specific classroom curriculum and service learning. Administration: Prepare progress reports for each child (twice yearly) to assess skills and progress in your area of study. Submit progress reports to administration. Work collaboratively with administration to address concerns regarding students, parents and staff. Report all accidents/ incidents to administration and complete accident forms as needed. Attend weekly faculty meetings and specialist meetings as scheduled. Attend all mandatory events. Perform recess duties. School Culture Demonstrate a strong commitment to professional ethics. Attend one goal related conference per year to further professional development.
